  1. In the first weeks we have now designed the first sketches of our bot.  The design is just one small step to building the final bot.  The sketches show how our bot will move, attack, and finish the competition.  They also show the different dimensions and parts we will be using to build it.  We have named the bot the Stingray.
  1. Our group has made a decision on some certain parts we are going to use for our bot.  We are going to use a dewalt 24V hammer drill motor to give us the power to smash the competition. We then decided if we want it to be very fast we need to put it low to the ground.  This can than protect the bot from being flipped. Then we have installed a secret weapon if the bot does end up being flipped.
  1. Now you can’t build a bot without spending a little money.  We need sponsors and we have paid a visit to a company known as the Saelens Corporation.  They were very kind to use and offered use help with the bot.  Bryan Weiss the president of Saelens talked to use himself saying that if it was allowed by the rules he would let his engineers help us.  He said they wouldn’t build the bot but they could help point us in the right direction.
  1. Even though we have help from Saelens we still need more sponsors.  If you become a sponsor your corporations name will be on the bot along with a t-shirt.  We need to raise a thousand dollars but any small amount of cash or just a few pointers would help the team.  Help us build our bot today become a sponsor and join the battle!

We Currently have Three companies sponsoring us, ETCO, DPP and Grinwald. ETCO was kind enough to give us used endmill bits for our team to use. So far we are designing our robot and parts on a program called “Inventor”. Our team leader, Scott, is finishing the basic design on the robot. We are still looking for more sponsors to help us reach our $1,000 cap. We are ordering more parts for our battle bot and planning to get them by late February or early March. We are thinking about creating our team T-shirts. We have no idea what they will look like or who will design them. Our creation deadline is coming up soon, but we feel that we are doing good progress so far. Hopefully we will get our material in time so we can start building right away.

March Newsletter
This past month our team has made a lot of progress on the production of parts needed to assemble our bot.  In the beginning of the month we had the drawing of the bot completely drawn on inventor and knew what we needed to mill on the CNC.  We also had most of the metal need to start producing parts.  After we finished the programs for the angles and connector we began cutting angles for the sides of the bot and have now started to make the connectors on the CNC.   Around the middle of the month Pete Spangler came in to talk to us about our designs of our bot and other parts.  We will be looking forward to having the bot completely assembled later on this month and begin testing it.
